Life Insurance & Savings

Provide financial security for your loved ones or save for your child's education with structured life policies.

Invest in What Matters Most

Life is unpredictable, but your family's financial security doesn't have to be. Life insurance ensures that if the worst happens to the family breadwinner, dependents are protected against loss of income, mortgages are paid off, and children's education continues uninterrupted. We compare term and investment policies from Kenya's top life underwriters.

Life Insurance FAQs

Answers to savings bonuses, medical examinations, and policy surrenders.

Under KRA guidelines, if you purchase a life policy or an education savings plan with a maturity term of 10 years or longer, you qualify for a tax relief of 15% of premiums paid, up to a maximum of KES 5,000 per month (KES 60,000 annually). We issue a tax certificate which you submit to your HR department to adjust your monthly PAYE.

For moderate coverage limits (e.g. sums assured below KES 5,000,000 or ages under 45), underwriters do not require medical tests; you simply fill in a health declaration form. For higher limits or senior ages, underwriters will schedule simple medical exams (e.g., blood tests, urinalysis) at their expense.

For Term Life, if you stop paying, the cover lapses after a 30-day grace period. For savings policies (endowments), they acquire a "Surrender Value" after 3 consecutive years of premium payments. If you stop paying before 3 years, the policy is terminated with no payout. After 3 years, the policy can be converted to "paid-up" (reduced sum assured) or surrendered for cash, though surrendering early usually incurs penalties.
